Here are 3 of our favorite fun greetings for morning meeting:

 

  1. Spider Web Greeting
  •  Students sit on the floor and form a circle.
  • The teacher starts the greeting by greeting a student, putting her finger on the edge of the yarn, and rolling a ball of yarn to the student.
  • All students greeted must hold the yarn until the greeting is finished
  • Students repeat this until all students are greeted.

 

  1. The Shoe Greeting
  • Students stand in a circle.
  • Each student takes off one shoe and places it in the middle of the circle.
  • The leader picks a shoe, looks around to see who is wearing the matching shoe, and greets that person.
  •  Next, a second child puts their shoe behind their back and selects a new shoe for the greeting.
  • Finally, the greeting is finished when all shoes are matched to their owner.

  1. The Switcharoo.
  • Everyone stands in a circle.  
  • The leader chooses an object to pass.
  • The leader greets another student and passes the object.
  • The child with the object steps into the circle and the leader sits in the child’s spot in the circle.
  • The greeting is complete when everyone has had a turn.
